The workshop is an introduction to research ethics explaining its rationale and implementation in the context of research integrity and publication ethics. The aim is to provide research administrators an overall picture of the ethics process across the research life cycle.

By the end of the workshop participants will:

• Have clearer understanding of research integrity and ethics
• Have a broad overview on the preparation of the ethics application  
• Gained information on hot topics such as artificial intelligence and research ethics committee misconduct
• Obtained practical insight into ethical issues with case studies
• Have an appreciation of the researcher’s agenda in doing research and therefore will be more able to assist them

Target Audience

This one-day workshop is aimed at research administrators with a maximum of 12 months experience in university schools, faculties, research centres /institutes and central offices.

Prior knowledge required

Those new to research administration will gain a good overview of the core elements of research ethics and will be equipped with the basic ‘body of expertise’ needed to carry out their roles. Those with a little more experience will be able to consolidate their knowledge and explore how different elements of research and publication ethics across the research lifecycle are linked.
