I’d appreciate if anyone can advise on how one decides whether the output from research has IP value? This is not quantifying the value, just determining if it should be treated as IP. I realise that not all IP will necessarily have commercial/monetary value but is there a useful tool/guide to assess whether one should treat expected output as IP? Is it just a straightforward case of if parties responsible for the research want to treat output as having IP, fair enough? I think the most straightforward/basic IP will be copyright for materials perhaps documenting an aspect of the output.

I hope this makes sense, am figuring it out in my own mind!
