    Dear all

We have been advised by Research England (though expect same applies to any GCRF projects funded by UKRI) that equipment below a capital threshold of £10k is an allowable GCRF costs provided that:
    – it is used exclusively for the funded projects
    – that the equipment is left with the ODA-country partner at the end of the project (I assume so the partner is deemed to benefit from the continued use of the equipment after the end of the grant, or has the potential to do so, or being in possession the equipment constitutes capacity building, rather than the UK drawing benefit).

    Related to the above

    – what guidance can others offer in terms of possible import duties that may be payable? Would GCRF funded equipment be exempt as a form of aid? If so, how might this exemption be sought? On a country by country basis? And if so from whom?
    – what guidance is available re the transport of pieces of equipment in hand-luggage? Electronic sensors, for example, are likely to raise eyebrows with airport security. Would it be best to courier such things in advance and if so with what documentation? Again, documentation re import duties may be required?

Apologies for all the questions……any pointers appreciated…….if only by way of indicating where else I might take these queries.

    Best, Andrew
