ARMA 2019 Social Information

ARMA Annual Conference 2019
New Horizons: Prosperity & Resilience in Research Management

ICC Belfast | Monday 17th to Tuesday 18th June

As well as a packed conference programme, we’re also including a vibrant social programme for our delegates too. Most of our social activities can already be booked in the registration portal.

Some of our social activities will be included in our programme, and some are available to book outside of conference time!

We’ll also have a dedicated Wellbeing Zone for delegates to relax and get away from the conference buzz when needed.

Making the most of your time at Conference

  • Welcome to Conference – To welcome you to #ARMA2019 – and to the wonderful city of Belfast – we’re inviting you to join us at the Hilton hotel for a quick tipple. Just next door to the Conference venue, you’ll also be able to get your bearings for the rest of your stay.
  • *Research Professional Question Time – We’re delighted that our media partners, *Research Professional, are hosting their fantastic Question Time event, now a key part of the ARMA Conference programme. QT will feature a panel of distinguished speakers discussing key research issues of the day.
  • ARMA Conference Quiz – No ARMA Conference would be the same without the infamous Quiz, led by the incomparable John Eggleton as question master. The Quiz is a great way to meet new people, learn new things and generally ease yourself in to your time in Belfast.
  • Whittling with Green Aspirations – Scheduled workshops: Winter is coming! Well, it is if you’re a Game of Thrones fan. To help keep you safe, you’ll need to get your hands on a dragon-glass sword, hand-whittled from a piece of oak and completed with a touch of magic. How? By joining the sword whittling workshop sessions at the ARMA Conference. Run by Green Aspirations Scotland CIC – a woodlands-based social enterprise offering skills training for young people – you’ll learn everything from knife skills (definitely) to dragon slaying (possibly). Drop-ins: Whittling is good for the soul! What better way to make the most of the ARMA Conference 2019 than to hone your whittling skills, make your very own sword or wand, and get some good chat all at the same time? As well as scheduled workshops, you can drop in for a whittle any time on Monday 17 June. Come along, be creative, and see where the whittling can take you
  • Wellness with Maitri Studio – We are bringing mindfulness and relaxation to #ARMA2019 with Maitri Studio! The locally based wellness specialists will be providing our conference delegates with the opportunity to enjoy yoga and relaxation techniques during programme breaks, including a complimentary massage session. Bliss!

Making the most of your time in Belfast

  • Walking tour of Belfast’s street art – Join Ulster University’s Omar El Masri for a conversation and walking tour that explores Belfast’s street art scene against the backdrop of a changing urban landscape brought on by legacies of conflict, segregation, urban regeneration and redevelopment.
  • Black Cab Tours – Prefer to experience the street art in a quicker fashion? You can also learn about Belfast’s political history and murals through the famous Black Cab Tours! The Belfast Black Taxi Tours are a Trip Advisor award-winning Belfast attraction, and are a fantastic way to take it the rest of the city too!
