What Next? Our Certificate in Research Management Could Be A Good Place To Start…

Qualifications Delivery Officer, Katherine Carlyon describes the support that’s available for those contemplating joining us for this year’s Certificate in Research Management (CRM) cohort in November.

Ready for a challenge? If so, then you might like to consider joining us this November for the Certificate in Research Management 2022 cohort. There are two levels available, Foundation and Advanced, and if you are unsure which one is for you, you can have a go at our diagnostic tool here.

You may be wondering what the course looks like?

It starts with a welcome induction on 7th November. Here, we’ll introduce ourselves, guide you through the course content and layout for the year ahead and answer any burning questions  you might have. We’ll follow up with an ice-breaker session so you can introduce yourselves and ‘meet’ your cohort who you will be working alongside for the next few years.

Next up is the assignment guidance webinar, an invaluable session for everyone, not just those who haven’t studied for some time. Here our expert presenters will guide you step by step, on how to produce an assignment that evidences your learning for each unit. Our assessors will mark your assignments and provide invaluable feedback, supporting you towards a pass as you progress through the units. And if you are referred? Simply resubmit at the next assessment round that suits you. We offer three assessment rounds annually for you to choose from, allowing you to fit around other commitments. When all unit assignments have been submitted and passed you will then receive your certificate of completion.

The unit webinars are delivered every 6-8 weeks from the end of November, over the course of the next calendar year, and are presented by experts in their field. You will get the best experience if you are able to attend the live sessions and interact with the course presenters and your peers, but don’t worry if not. We record all webinars so you can watch them as often as you like afterwards. You can also follow up and link in with your peers and course tutors on our dedicated Microsoft Teams groups at your convenience. Although we will provide gentle nudges along the way, we encourage you to go at your own pace so that your study is a snug fit around your other commitments (and is a pleasure, rather than a chore!)

We encourage you to complete the course over a two year period, however we have built in flexibility, and encourage you to contact us if you feel you need an extension. One of the characteristics of ARMA qualifications has always been flexibility, to suit you and your commitments. We have learned that giving students up to 12 months to complete their certificate could make all the difference in getting over the finish line. This is available to all students while they have active membership, so please do get in touch to discuss.

The Certificate in Research Management programme commences Monday 7th November 2022, and registration is now open until 31st October. We now offer a monthly payment scheme for both qualifications and ARMA membership (please note, membership must be purchased first so that you are able to log in and access the qualifications registration page).

Please remember that there is always support on hand. Anytime you have a question, or even just want to chat, you can contact me at qualifications@arma.ac.uk or via Teams and I’ll be pleased to guide, support and reassure you throughout your qualifications journey.
