
Dr Peter Hedges began his career at the UK Research Councils, latterly working as a Programme Manager at the EPSRC working collaboratively to commission research with external research partners. He was appointed as Director of Research Support Services at the University of Warwick in 2008 and moved to become head of the Research Office at the University of Cambridge in 2014.
As Director of Research Services at Cambridge his responsibilities included management of the University’s Research Strategy and Research Operations teams that provide core administrative support for the research life cycle at the University. He led the University’s submission to REF2021 and had specific responsibilities in policy areas including research evaluation, research integrity, governance and security.
Peter retired from Cambridge at the end of 2023 and established Bacchus Beyond, an Independent Wine Merchant business based in Halesworth, Suffolk. He also remains active in research administration as a consultant and continues to be a regular contributor at research administration professional development training events and conferences. He has a particular interest in research administration leadership and research governance and is a Co-Chair of the UK Research Integrity Office Advisory Board.
