Event Details
This introduction to post award research grant management workshop aims to provide delegates with specific and practical understanding of post-award financial administration within a university research management environment. You will also have the opportunity to hear direct from a Research Grant Auditor about what they look for while auditing your projects and what mistakes post-award teams usually make. The session combines a mixture of delivered content, and activities and provides an opportunity to network with colleagues from other universities.
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
- Understand the overall context of post award grant administration from a university context.
- Opportunity to hear from Research Grant Auditors about what they look for while auditing your projects, top grant audit issues and what mistakes post-award teams usually make
- Have a good understanding of the financial administration lifecycle of research accounts from start to finish and have confidence to apply the knowledge gained in their role.
- Understand the key risks at the post award stage and how to mitigate these.
- Have had an opportunity to network with peers in similar roles from across the sector.

Target Audience
This is an introductory level course particularly suitable for those who are new to a post-award research administration role, ideally within the first 12 months of their post. The course may also be suitable for those who currently work in a pre-award or wider university setting and wish to gain greater insight into post-award administration.
Prior Knowledge Required
Participants will benefit from having basic accounts and post-award finance administration experience in a university environment and an understanding of general financial terms.
