Event Details
Post-award research management is under growing pressure from increased activity, expanding remits, limited resources and ongoing organisational change. In this changing environment, post award teams are being asked to do more – more efficiently- while maintaining compliance, consistency and quality of service.
This session explores how post-award structures and processes are evolving in practice, and how teams are adapting to support research delivery while maintaining compliance and sustainable service standards.
Drawing on sector experience, the session will highlight shared challenges such as uncertainty, boundary-setting and shifting expectations from researchers and funders.
Through interactive discussion, delegates will explore practical approaches that can be adapted to different institutional contexts, rather than a single “best-practice” model. Delegates will be encouraged to reflect on how clearer processes, fit for purpose documentation and well defined roles can improve post award efficiency and sustainability.
Participants will leave with:
- Insight into how post-award structures and support models are changing across the sector
- Practical ideas for simplifying processes and managing increasing demand with limited resources
- Approaches to developing and embedding standard operating procedures, guidance and consistent documentation
- Strategies for setting clearer roles, responsibilities and service boundaries
- Peer-generated examples of how teams are improving post-award delivery through better use of tools, systems and resources.
This session is aimed at research management and post-award professionals whose roles extend beyond finance and who are navigating increasingly complex, constrained and evolving post-award environments.

Previous Session Feedback
“It was interesting to hear how different the structures are in different institutions but also how similar the challenges are. The webinar provided lots of food for thought.”
“I think the most important thing I’ll take away is a reassurance that a lot of us are in the same boat in terms of the challenges we face, as well as recognising the huge variation in how Post Award is structured/delivered.”
Professional development sessions are adapted based on member and delegate feedback.
