Public trust in research is key for the implementation of research findings. Government and research funders are increasingly recognising the importance of a focus on research integrity for building trust. The foundation of this trust is in the everyday work and practices of researchers and research management teams in universities and research-performing organisations. A proactive, transparent approach to research integrity that promotes reproducibility across the research lifecycle is one of the most robust ways to ensure the trustworthiness of research.  

The aim of this half-day workshop is to develop the confidence of research professional staff in supporting, encouraging and promoting research integrity, through interactive dialogue and real-world examples of the key challenges to research integrity they are likely to encounter as part of their work.

By the end of the day participants will

• Understand the principles of research integrity, why it is important, and link it into the ‘Concordat to Support Research Integrity’.
• Be confident in facilitating the incorporation of research integrity across the research lifecycle, putting principles into practice through a set of questions, encouraging the adoption of good research practices and a healthy research environment.
• Discover what ethical Open Research is and how this can strengthen research integrity and reproducibility.
• Be aware of new and emerging research integrity issues that the research ecosystem is facing in 2025 and ways of overcoming these challenges.

This workshop is for any research professionals, particularly those working closely with researchers, who want to find out more about research integrity and how it is relevant to their role, and to the broader research environment.
