As part of the REF 2021 exercise, institutions are required to complete a Code of Practice (CoP) in relation to the identification of staff and the selection of outputs. This event, which will build on Research England’s CoP workshops, is aimed at sharing experiences and issues that institutions have faced so far in drafting these CoP. Attendees will have the opportunity to bring their current draft codes of practice and these will be used as a focal point for discussion and problem solving. We will hear a summary of key themes, questions and feedback from the February Research England workshops and consider how that applies to the development of institutional CoP. The session will not give advice on individual CoPs but will provide facilitated discussions around the key topics of Equality and Diversity, Significant Responsibility for Research, defining independence and selecting outputs. By the end of the session attendees will have a gained a better understanding of the different elements of the CoP and the implications for their own institution.
