Due to uncertainties around Brexit and the UK’s lack of association to Horizon Europe for a number of years, UK institutions have had to manage transitioning from Horizon 2020 to Horizon Europe via the UK Government’s commitment to underwrite European funding using the UK Guarantee Fund. The UK has now formally associated to Horizon Europe and can receive funding directly from the European Commission. It is therefore a good opportunity for post award colleagues to refresh their understanding of the Horizon Europe financial rules and regulations which will apply to their research projects going forward.

Objectives of this training:

• To explain the key differences between managing Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe projects
• To explain the types of projects which can be funded under Horizon Europe and their nuances
• To explore the Annotated Model Grant Agreement (AMGA) and explain the key post award considerations for each budget category i.e. Personnel, Travel, Subcontracting etc.

By the end of the workshop participants will:

• understand the key Horizon Europe financial rules
• understand the audit requirements of managing Horizon Europe awards
• understand the processes needed to manage Horizon Europe project and be able to apply these processes to their own institutions
• understand the different types of projects and how financial management may differ depending on the funding scheme.

Target Audience

This course is aimed at Post-Award administrators who are new to European funding or who may want to refresh their understanding of the financial rules and regulations of Horizon Europe.
