ARMA is delighted to welcome Professor Chris Johnson, Chief Scientific Adviser at the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST), for an exclusive webinar with ARMA members.
In this session, Professor Johnson will discuss the role of a Chief Scientific Adviser and provide insights into the work of BIST, formerly Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT).
The session will be chaired by Grace McConnell, Chair of ARMA and Deputy Director of Research and Innovation at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Following a short presentation from Professor Johnson, there will be a facilitated discussion based on questions submitted in advance by ARMA members, followed by an open Q&A where attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions directly.

Professor Chris Johnson
Professor Chris Johnson is a Chief Scientific Adviser in the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST). He served as Chief Scientific Adviser in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) from July 2024 to July 2026. Prior to this, he was Pro Vice-Chancellor for Engineering and Physical Sciences at Queen’s University Belfast and Head of Computing Science at the University of Glasgow. His research interests focus on cyber security and the engineering of safety-critical systems.
