As the research landscape evolves, with growing attention to research culture in the sector — such as People, Culture and Environment in REF2029, metascience, research assessment, open research, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research teams, and equality, diversity and inclusion — it’s increasingly important for RMAs to engage with research culture principles. This workshop offers essential insights and collaborative strategies to help RMAs enhance their practice and take an active role in driving positive cultural developments within their teams and institutions.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this event, participants will have:

  • A foundational understanding of the importance and growing relevance of research culture within the sector.
  • Insights into how to reflect on and influence research culture in their practice.
  • Collaborative strategies to engage in shaping and leading research culture change in their teams and institutions.

Target Audience
This event is designed for research managers and administrators (RMAs), particularly those in the early- to mid-stages of their careers, including colleagues involved in research and researcher development, research delivery, REF preparations, and governance professionals. It is suited to those working in both central offices and research departments or centres, across the pre- and post-award stages, who wish to enhance their roles in fostering a vibrant research culture and improve their understanding of effective practices to support it.

Format
This event will be delivered as a half-day online workshop, featuring live presentations, interactive discussions, and breakout activities designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and practical engagement.
