Head of Research Governance in Research & Postgraduate Research, Teesside University

Dr Andrew Rawnsley

Dr Andrew Rawnsley is Head of Research Governance & Postgraduate Research at Teesside University. His expertise lies mainly in research ethics policy and practice, an area in which Andrew does frequent consultancy for a range of institutions as well as and designing and delivering training. He is an advisor for the UK Research Integrity Office, Associate Editor for the BioMed Central journal Research Integrity & Peer Review, and a co-author of Epigeums’ “Research Integrity” online programmes. Andrew was also a Council Trustee for the UK Council for Graduate Education from 2010-2017 and on the Council of the Association for Research Ethics from 2013-2016. Current projects include co-authorship and editing of a revised edition of good practice guidelines for UREICs (via UKRIO and ARMA) and ethics work package manager for a EC Cofund project for the University Alliance. Outside of HE, Andrew is a keen viticulturalist and the current holder of the Julien Brind Memorial Prize for Wines, for which he is undertaking research on English Regional Still Wine production.
