Fiona is Global Director of Research Engagement at Heriot-Watt University, and joined Heriot-Watt University in October 2019 from UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) where she was Deputy Director of Community Engagement for UKRI’s EU Exit Programme.

She leads the SFC-funded Trusted Research and Secure Innovation (TReSI) Network; a collaborative project building resources to support safe and responsible international research practices for Scottish Universities.

Fiona was the Chair of the Universities Scotland Research and Innovation Directors Group from September 2023 – August 2026, and during that time was a member of Universities Scotland Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee.
