John Goddard OBE is Emeritus Professor at Newcastle University where he founded and led the Centre for Urban and Regional Development Studies (CURDS) and was subsequently Deputy Vice Chancellor with responsibility for city and regional engagement. He was Vice Chair of the Civic University Commission and now also holds the position of Professor of Universities and Cities at Birmingham University.
