Jon has a strategic development role at the University of Bristol. Working with the Pro Vice-Chancellor to develop and implement new strategies.  He also has responsibility for operational aspects of Research, Enterprise and Innovation. 

Jon has enjoyed working for universities, business, charities, funders, and government.  From each of these sectors, he has worked at the interface and seeking to join up ecosystems with the aim of social and economic benefits.  One significant success in this regard was the co-development and lead role in securing £100m to establish the Institute of Advanced Automotive Propulsions Systems (IAAPS) based at the Bristol & Bath Science Park. At WECA, Jon wrote worked with Government on Innovation & Skills, setting out the need for Research, Technology & Skills Organisations, which he called Talent Institutes. 

Jon has developed strategies for growth, led numerous commercial deals including overseen spin out formation, the inward investment team for Bristol & Bath, has been a business analyst, and influenced, developed, and delivered government policy.  He is the Non-Exec Director on three company boards.  

He also line manages a national security Sector Specialist, the Director of GW4 and the Director of the National Coordinating Centre for Public Engagement.
