Background
My background is in academic research and research management.
I spent ten years in research in the fields of zoology and genetics, as a research assistant, PhD student and then as a post-doc. After this, I spent 13 years in university management, specialising in research management. As a manager, I have worked at three different London universities, based within both individual academic departments and the central research office.
My research management experience includes: preparing for, and analysing the outcome of, three research assessment exercises; setting up systems and workflows for research division support services; support for research grants and contracts (both pre- and post-award); design, use and procurement of research information management systems (both ‘in house’ and commercial); and, supporting the impact agenda, as it relates to Research Excellence Framework (REF) and Research Councils UK (RCUK) funding.
Role
Working with the Jisc research data shared service project team, I lead on HEI engagement for this new service.
I also work with stakeholders on wider issues within research information management, with particular interest in national research information infrastructures and CRIS interoperability.
