For this final article, we spoke to Helen Cross, a recent ARMA Advanced qualifications graduate and member of the ARMA Qualifications Working Group. How much time should I expect to study each week?
One of the most common concerns is finding the time to study alongside an already busy role.
The reality is that study commitments vary throughout the qualification. Some weeks involve attending module presentations, revision sessions or meeting with fellow learners, while others focus on reviewing materials and preparing assignments at a pace that suits you.
A helpful first step is to discuss your plans with your line manager before starting the programme. Identifying dedicated study time and agreeing how this fits alongside your existing responsibilities can make a significant difference to your experience.
How long does it take to complete the qualification?
Completion times vary depending on your personal circumstances, study patterns and other commitments.
As a guide, most learners complete the Certificate in Research Management Foundation in around 12-18 months, while the Certificate in Research Management Advanced typically takes around 24 months.
Because the programme combines structured learning with flexible self-directed study, learners can often adapt their pace to fit around work and life commitments.
Can I manage the qualification alongside a full-time job?
Yes.

If your circumstances change, maintaining communication with the team allows them to work with you to adjust your plans and help you resume your studies when the time is right.
