ARMA seeks views from its members on new Government R&D Roadmap

Complete our surveymonkey by 9am, 3 August 2020!

ARMA is seeking views from its members with a view to submitting a response to the Government’s new UK Research and Development Roadmap.

The Roadmap aims to ensure the UK is the best place in the world for scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs to live and work. The government’s long-term objectives for research and development (R&D) are: to be a science superpower and invest in the science and research that will deliver economic growth and societal benefits across the UK for decades to come, and to build the foundations for the new industries of tomorrow. This was supported by the unprecedented commitment at the Budget to increase public investment in R&D to £22 billion by 2024 to 2025.

The Roadmap marks the start of a conversation to identify the strengths and challenges facing the sector, the issues that need to be addressed, and ways of working together to cement the UK’s reputation as a science superpower.

ARMA is intending to submit a response representing the various roles of our profession, focussing on our common interests rather than our institutional diversities.

We have, then, created a surveymonkey where we seek your views on the following three questions:

  • What is the role of RMAs in maximising the economic, environmental and societal impact of research through effective application of new knowledge?
  • How can ARMA support effective and safe collaboration with partners and networks around the globe?
  • How can our members’ voices be heard in ensuring that R&D is delivering for society, and inspire a whole new generation of scientists, researchers, technicians, engineers, and innovators (and RMAs)?

If you have a view on any or all of these, please visit our surveymonkey here and jot them down. All views will be read and taken into account when preparing our submission. Your response can be anonymous, if you wish. The survey closes at 9am on Monday 3rd August.
