Research managers play a crucial role in identifying and applying for Horizon Europe opportunities, especially as UK universities renew their focus on engaging with the Horizon Europe framework. This session is designed to facilitate the exchange of best practices and to leverage the valuable experiences of colleagues from European institutions. The session will be interactive, to support the sharing of insights and strategies from across the UK sector and to promote a collaborative learning environment.
The aim of this one-day (online) workshop is to provide research managers with:
- A summary of key funding opportunities within Horizon Europe.
- An understanding of the key strategies used by European research managers in identifying relevant opportunities and securing Horizon Europe funding.
- Skills in building collaborative networks and partnerships.
By the end of the day, participants will:
- Understand EU institutions better and learn from UK colleagues’ experiences, including the administrative support mechanisms that exist to reduce the burden on researchers and streamline the bid preparation process.
- Learn techniques for establishing and maintaining cross-European research networks that enhance collaboration.
- Develop competitive proposals that align with Horizon Europe’s evaluation criteria and strategic priorities to increase funding success.
- Understand the administrative support mechanisms that exist in European institutions to reduce the burden on researchers and streamline the bid preparation process, including approaches to annual planning and bid preparation cycles.
Target Audience:
This workshop is aimed at RMAs with 2+ years of experience supporting UK schemes who are either new to Horizon Europe or wish to refresh their understanding.
