Add your voice to the ARMA Strategy 2018

Welcome to the new year! We hope you had a wonderful break over the festive season and managed to switch off from the day job for at least a while. Now that it’s 2018, we’re putting you straight back to work! It’s time for the new ARMA Strategy, and we need your input.

A strategy sets out what an organisation or institution is going to do differently to achieve future objectives. Actions should be transformative, taking the organisation to where it wants to be. Strategies should be ambitious, but not overly so, and set out clearly what the purpose of that organisation is, now and in the future. We need the next ARMA Strategy to be the same. To do that, we’re calling on our members to provide feedback on our initial draft. Members can access the information here.

The consultation has been developed in three parts:

Part 1: The context. So much has changed since the Association’s last Strategic Plan, published in 2013, and we’ve provided a background piece to situate our new Strategy. This builds on our current mission, and assumes that the great work we already do – our Special Interest Groups, training & development, annual conference, and qualifications – will continue. We’re asking the following questions: Is our mission still compelling? Have we missed a vital aspect of the operating context? Are we not looking ahead far enough? Have we ignored important elements of the profession in the PDF?

Part 2: The objectives.  Through discussions with the Board, Advocacy Group, and SIG champions, we’ve identified four strategic objectives and a broad operational objective, each with a related set of actions. We need your comments. Have we covered the right areas? Are we being ambitious enough? Are we being too ambitious? Were there objectives and/or actions that you were expecting that you haven’t seen? Is anything not required?

Part 3: Your feedback. We’ll be taking another version of the draft Strategy to the Board meeting in February, and want to include the views of our members. We need you to put your ideas down in an email and send to by Friday 9 February 2018.
