An introduction to the world of research management and administration at the Induction Workshop

When you are new to Research Management and Administration (RMA) it can be daunting to understand the sector, or the areas beyond your immediate role.  With so many elements running through the full life cycle of a research project, our workshop is aimed at colleagues with less than a year’s experience of RMA.

If you are new to RMA and are looking to learn more about how it all fits together while meeting and networking with other new research support colleagues from across the UK, this session is a great start!

This interactive workshop aims to provide a high level overview of the full research project life cycle. It covers a wide range of topics to enable delegates to understand the broader research management picture, how their work links to others and to network with like-minded new colleagues.

Topics Covered:

  • Research Landscape – in partnership with the Induction Bite we look to explain the broad HE Landscape linked to research.
  • Pre & Post Award Process – we walk through the different elements, including the idea, funders, costing, submission, set up, compliance, post award, audits and data management.
  • Open Access, Impact & Public Engagement – we look at Open Access compliance, define Impact and Engagement, and look at what is, and is not impact and how to support it.
  • REF – an introduction to REF based on the latest place in the cycle.
