An opportunity to help steer ARMA’s future direction – Committee Vacancies

ARMA seeks to fill Vacancies on its Finance & Governance and Professional Development Committees

Members are invited to apply for the following Committee vacancies. These roles will commence early February for a term of 3 years.  Committee members may serve up to two terms.

Finance and Governance Committee (F&GC). One post is available. Convened by the Deputy Chair, F&GC plays a critical role overseeing and strengthening ARMA’s governance in the areas of finance, human resources and organisational infrastructure (including operational policy and procedures, risk, systems, supplier and contractor relationships, etc.), to ensure that ARMA continues to have a sustainable infrastructure, sound finances and appropriate governance. This is an exciting time to join F&GC as it will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring the implementation of the Finance & Governance Review, which reports in mid January. For further details of F&GC, click here.

Professional Development Committee (PDC). Two posts are available. Currently co-convened by the Directors of Training & Development and Qualifications, this Committee was created to ensure that all ARMA’s professional development activity – initially focusing on the Training & Development and Qualifications programmes, but now including Conference – are strategically aligned with the ARMA professional development framework, and offer value for money, high-quality learning and development opportunities for our members. For this Call, we would particularly welcome those with experience of creating professional development pathways or frameworks,  or those who have established or managed accredited Qualifications programmes. • Further expand your network and engage with key stakeholders across the sector.

  • Increase your visibility and raise your personal and professional profile.

Further details

Applicants should preferably have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a research administration/management role, a good awareness of ARMA and be able to demonstrate a strong interest in, and commitment to, the Committee of their choice. Applicants do not have to be a member of ARMA when applying  for this role, but will be asked to join in the event that they are appointed.

Celebrating and promoting a culture of inclusivity, ARMA is committed to embedding equitable practice within our Board, Committees and Working Groups and ensuring our governance is fully representative of our membership.

These posts are unpaid, and all meetings are likely to be via Teams. Committees formally meet four times a year, necessitating an overall time commitment of approximately 4-6 days per year. Individual committee members are, on occasion, asked to lead smaller working groups/task forces in relation to specific tasks or objectives.  Committee members are entitled to claim expenses for financial commitments incurred on ARMA business in line with the ARMA expenses policy.

How to apply

If you are interested in applying for one of these roles, please send Hamish Macandrew, Chief Operating Officer, a covering email of no more than 500 words, and a brief CV by 9am on Monday 17th January, indicating which Committee you would like to join and summarising why you would like to join it. Please outline the ideas, skills and experience you believe you can bring to the role. We will then review the applications we have received before responding to candidates.
