ARMA announces new Chair
ARMA’s Board of Directors is delighted to confirm that Lorna Wilson will be the Association’s next Chair.
In common with all Board positions, this appointment was ratified by the membership earlier this month.
Lorna is currently Co-Director of Research and Innovation Services for Durham University, where she is responsible for leading Research Operations, Research Development, Research Culture and Strategic Projects. She has been a member of ARMA’s Board of Directors since 2019 and until recently co-chaired the Professional Development Committee.
Announcing her appointment, Current Chair Jennifer Johnson, who steps down in July 2023, said, ”What makes a good ARMA Chair? I’d like to think that it’s a combination of a solid understanding of the sector and the role of research management, strong leadership and governance skills, and a real passion for the organisation and its members. Lorna has all of these in abundance and I am delighted that ARMA members have ratified her appointment as Chair Elect. I look forward to supporting Lorna over the coming year as she prepares to take on the role of Chair, which is a challenging and demanding responsibility but also a huge privilege.”
Lorna Wilson added, “I have been a part of the ARMA community for almost 10 years and am delighted and honoured to be taking on the role of Chair. I’m really passionate about ARMA and the role it plays in supporting the research management community not only in areas such as professional development but also in bringing together different voices and agencies to contribute to tackling some of the key challenges our sector faces. It is a real privilege to take on the role, and I look forward to working with the Board and Jenni as Chair Elect in the next year. I’ve got some very big shoes to fill!”
Lorna Wilson takes over the role of Chair of ARMA from 1st August 2023. Until then, she assumes the position of Chair Elect.
