ARMA launches regional groups initiative

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new initiative to develop regional groups. We aim to establish regional groups to bring together ARMA members at a local level, enabling them to connect, network, share knowledge and discuss matters that impact their specific region.

Through valuable feedback from our 2023 member survey, we are aware of a growing need within the membership for more regional and in-person networking opportunities. And now, we are thrilled to announce that we will be launching two pilot regional groups from this autumn. The ARMA Member Engagement Committee (MEC) has been hard at work developing new operating principles to support the creation and operation of ARMA regional groups.

Working with ARMA members, we will build an understanding of the region, including existing networks and institutions. We will aim to create regional groups across the UK that serve the needs and interests of ARMA members. The events and activities of each regional group will be funded by ARMA and led by member volunteers called Regional Group Champions.

Grace McConnell, Board Director of Member Engagement, said: “In my journey through research management, I’ve been fortunate to have colleagues and mentors who supported me with technical questions, shared understanding, and best practices. Having a supportive community is vital, and we recognize the value of face-to-face, locally tailored connections. We listened to our members’ call for more in-person networking opportunities, and we’re committed to delivering on that. We’re thrilled to launch ARMA’s regional groups, creating dynamic local networks by and for Research Professionals to enhance our capacity to connect, share, and lead.”

If you would like your region to be considered for the regional group pilot or would like to get involved, please complete this short form by Monday 30 September.

If your nominated region is selected, we will reach out to those who expressed interest in becoming Regional Group Champions for a supporting statement that will help us in completing the appointment process. We will work with the appointed Regional Group Champions to develop a proposal for MEC to review and approve the creation of regional group.
