Awards Working Group seeks new member

The Awards Working Group is responsible for overseeing the annual ARMA Awards. Reinstated in 2024, ARMA Awards aim to celebrate the achievements of research management professionals, showcase good practice, excellence and innovation within the profession.

As a member of the working group, you will be involved in ensuring that ARMA Awards are designed to appeal to all in the research management community and cover areas relevant to the profession. You will participate in the development of the award categories, refining the criteria and guidelines, and processes for nominations and judging. The working group is also responsible for the selection of the shortlist and winners. Please refer to the Awards Working Group’s Terms of Reference for more information.

ARMA is keen to ensure the membership of this working group is inclusive and representative of the diversity in the research management community. We are therefore interested in hearing from members based across all UK nations, especially those based in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). In addition we welcome applications from members working for organisations such as universities/higher education institutions (non-Russell Group universities, newer and smaller universities), research institutes, independent research organisations, public sector research establishments, research funders, NHS Bodies, Catapult centres and charitable organisations, including Trusts and Foundations.

This volunteering opportunity is open to all career stages, and all types of research management roles, with appropriate guidance and support to be provided for the successful applicant.

Each working group member will be appointed for a term of three years, with the opportunity to renew for a second three-year term. The working group meets four times a year, with the exception of one in-person meeting, most meetings will take place on Microsoft Teams.

How to apply

To express interest, contact Amaka Nwagbara Amaka.Nwagbara@arma.ac.uk (subject line: ‘ARMA Awards Working Group vacancy’) with a short CV and a supporting statement (no more than 400 words) summarising your professional background, why you are interested in joining and getting involved in the working group and what you think you could bring to the role (skills, experience and ideas you could contribute to the working group). Please note you are not required to be an ARMA member at the time of application, but the successful applicant will be required to join ARMA before serving on the working group.

We are committed to taking active steps within our recruitment process to reduce bias and minimise barriers to application and participation. We are also committed to offering a flexible and inclusive working environment for our employees. We offer a range of adjustments throughout the process to enable full participation.
