SCOPE: Invitation to established Joint Clinical Research Offices >>>> skype discussion
The UoS and its two partner NHS Trusts have been given the green light to establish a joint Clinical Research Office.
The idea is to establish a “one-stop-shop” with the expertise and capacity to support clinical projects (in their broadest sense) across the life-cycle which involve any of the partner organisations.
The Office will be resourced with three new f/t dedicated posts, in addition to working with existing research support staff across the three partner organisations.
Project planning is underway with a view to establish the Joint Office by September 2018.
There is work to be done in scoping and detailing the office’s specific functions, in defining roles / responsibilities, and assessing the feasibility of various approaches.
Current thinking is that the scope would broadly encompass: Grants / Contracts / Governance functions, such as:
– Costing / pricing / project review;
– Sponsorship considerations and advice;
– Signposting (e.g., CTU expertise);
– Project setup support (liaison with partners / ethics approvals)
– Co-ordinating contracts / agreements
– Ongoing project support / advice
– Liaison with support staff in partner organisations (contracts teams, Finance, HR etc).
We recognise that there is much to learn from other Universities and Trusts who have already established Joint Clinical Research offices, and we are therefore reaching out to any existing Joint Offices to engage with us as we launch this exciting new project.
If you would be interested in sharing your experiences initially via a skype discussion, then I would be very pleased to hear back from you, ideally by end of January as we would like to organise follow-ups (skype calls) over February.
If you need more information to determine if this is feasible for you, do not hesitate to contact me.
