GDPR and Salary details

Hi Folks,

The University of Bradford is currently implementing a RIS with a research costing tool included.

There are concerns that providing access to either salary or combined salary+on-costs data for all academics and staff at the university could cause issues with GDPR – esp if people wish to “snoop” on colleagues salaries.

So, I wonder if anyone could comment as to their experiences with costing tools and issues that arise when general access is provided to all staff.

Obviously, if someone wants to “calculate” their colleagues salaries, there will always be ways that this can be achieved, but experiences and comments related to this would be greatly appreciated.
