How to pay International Speakers/advisors

Hello there ARMA Community

Could any of you help or advise? Further to the recent introduction of the IR35 legislation we are experiencing difficulty in making one-off payments for visiting international speakers either as a fee or as part of a honorarium agreement.

Our HR department have signposted UK governmental webpages which all suggest that the individual needs to obtain an NI number (which of course isn’t practical), and we can’t believe that there isn’t a more simple solution to this.

Could any of you advise as to what you do – we can only anticipate with REF and the role of international advisers that this issue will only become more prevalent.
