[I’ve posted this to the contracts SIG, but am reposting here as it may also be of interest to some people in this SIG]
As some of you may be aware, I ran a benchmarking exercise on research contracts functions for 20 UK universities back in 2013, the results of which are available here.
Management of contracts has continued to rear its head in various recent discussions I’ve had with institutions and sector bodies, so I’m considering a re-run of the benchmarking exercise in early 2018. Potentially we would open this up to a wider group of institutions, both in the UK and Australasia.
Before going any further, we’d like to get some feedback from the sector on whether this is something that would be of value, and if so what the scope of the exercise should be – which in turn would impact on the cost of participation.
I’d therefore be very grateful if people on this list could take a look at our initial ideas here, and complete a short survey to indicate interest (or not) and help shape the scope of work, via the following link:

Alternatively please feel free to reply to me direct with any questions or suggestions. We’re looking for feedback by Friday 6 October, after which we’ll put together some firm proposals for a new study, if appropriate.
If we go ahead with the study then we’d submit a proposal to share the results at INORMS, and could look at turning it into a journal article too. Potential collaborators for this aspect of the work would be very welcome!
