[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]The aim of the workshop is to provide research administrators who are new to role with a broad overview of key aspects of academic research administration in Higher Education, and to enable them to better understand the context they work in, both institutionally and within the research landscape.

By the end of the workshop participants will:

* Have a clearer understanding of the policies and drivers relating to externally funded academic research

* Have an appreciation of the agendas of national government, HE institutions and individual researchers

* Know where they fit in the research lifecycle and who they need to work with to get the job done

* Have a broad overview of the key aspects of the research administration role, especially in relation to developing and costing proposals, differentiating between research and consultancy, setting up and administering externally funded projects, dealing with open access and impact, and preparing for REF 2021.

Target Audience

This one-day workshop is aimed at research administrators with a maximum of 12 months experience in university schools, faculties, research centres /institutes and central offices and is particularly helpful for individuals who are new to the HE sector

Prior Knowledge Required

Those new to research administration will gain a good overview of the core elements of this area of work and will be equipped with the basic ‘body of expertise’ needed to carry out their roles. Those with a little more experience will be able to consolidate their knowledge and explore how different elements of research administration across the research lifecycle are linked. However, it should be noted that this workshop is aimed at people who are fairly new to their role.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
