Event Details

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This workshop will cover areas in relation to research project management, processes, compliance and quality. We will look at the broad range of aspects of leading and managing funded research projects, including planning, working with partners, finances, ethics, outputs and impact. It will be an interactive session and delegates will be encouraged to share ideas of good and ‘not so good’ practice.

Aim

The aim of this one day workshop is to provide staff who are responsible for managing academic research projects with an overview of project management through the entire lifecycle of a funded research project.

By the end of the day participants will:

  • Gain an insight into the role of project manager in the context of academic research
  • Have tools to interpret and manage project finances (both pre-award and post-award)
  • Develop approaches to managing the delivery of project outputs
  • Gain an understanding of various reporting mechanisms for research projects, including project audit
  • Have an overview of open access, research impact, translation and exploitation

Target audience

This workshop is for research support staff who are involved in managing funded academic research projects. It is suitable for project managers from other sectors who have recently joined Higher Education and for research support staff who have recently moved into this area of work.

Type

This event is a Technical Knowledge Workshop. Technical Knowledge Workshops focus on helping delegates to acquire the knowledge and behaviours required to undertake particular aspects of their role. Delegates can expect to hear from a recognised expert(s) in the topic area and can include individual and group activities and discussion. ARMA currently run ~12 technical knowledge workshops throughout the training and development annual calendar. Members receive a discount of £125 + VAT off of these events.

E-delegate Packs

As part of your ARMA delegate experience, we like to give you a pack of everything you will need for your training event. A couple of days prior to the workshop you will be attending, we will send you an information pack about ARMA, a programme for you to print out for the day and a delegate list of your fellow attendees. You may also receive presentations prior to the event if our speakers consent to this, however, this is not guaranteed due to the nature of each workshop.

You can find all other information on your speakers, the venue and what you will come away with from our website.
