ARMA Qualifications

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]ARMA qualifications enable our members – whatever their career level – to enhance their professional expertise. Each of our qualifications is offered on a part-time self-learning basis and relate closely to the work environment. Students are provided with online resources and access to ARMA professional development training opportunities.

All qualifications have been developed by ARMA, in partnership with ATHE, which is a regulated Ofqual awarding organisation. The next intake for our Qualifications is in October with places still available for booking.

Certificate in Research Management: Foundation

The Certificate in Research Management: Foundation has been designed as an introduction to the research management profession. It covers the broad range of topics required for an entry-level understanding of research management, whether that be in universities, funding organisations or other research organisations. Students are likely to be in an early stage of their professional development; either they have just started in their career, or they have moved from a very different work environment, with limited specialist knowledge about research management. It is suitable for members of ARMA and our sister associations.

By completing the Foundation Certificate, students will:

  • Develop a broad understanding of the research management environment in their country
  • Develop skills and knowledge that can be put to use within their teams and organisations
  • Identify the skills and knowledge needed to move to the next stage of their career
  • Build a network of peers from across the sector

Full details of the Certificate are available in our factsheet.

Certificate in Research Management: Advanced

The Certificate in Research Management: Advanced has been designed to provide an insight into the technical elements of research management. It builds on the Certificate in Research Management: Foundation and looks in greater depth at the different roles and activities within the research management profession. It seeks to develop in students a broader view of the issues, not just from their own role, but from the wider organisational and sector position. The Advanced Certificate will help students to develop skills and behaviours that they need to continue to progress in their career.

Students are likely to have experience in research management, and specific responsibilities within their department or unit. They will be keen to develop their professional skills and may be at the early stages of their journey towards a leadership role. Some students may be new to the profession but will bring relevant and transferable experience from other roles.

By completing the Advanced Certificate, students will:

  • Develop a strategic view of the challenges facing the sector in their country
  • Develop technical and professional skills that can be put to use within their organisations
  • Build and deepen their knowledge about the key roles and activities within the profession
  • Build a network of peers from across the sector

Full details of the Certificate are available in our factsheet
