ARMA Qualifications

ARMA qualifications enable our members – whatever their career level – to enhance their professional expertise. Each of our qualifications is offered on a part-time self-learning basis and relate closely to the work environment. Students are provided with online resources and access to ARMA professional development training opportunities.

All qualifications have been developed by ARMA, in partnership with ATHE, which is a regulated Ofqual awarding organisation.The next intake for our Qualifications is in October with places still available for booking.

Certificate in Research Administration 

This Certificate in Research Administration is aimed primarily at research administrators working in an operational role and looking to expand their knowledge and expertise across the research project lifecycle. The focus is on self-guided learning and assessment through work-based portfolios and submission of written work based on personal experience and research. The course comprises a combination of six mandatory and two optional units. There is a requirement to undertake some formal learning via ARMA training or other recognised training providers, and contact time with a Professional Mentor.

By completing the Certificate in Research Administration, students will:

  • Learn new skills and knowledge and enhance their ability to reflect on and plan improvements in their daily activity.
  • Practice effectively within their professional context, benefiting both them and their institution.
  • Gain formal recognition of their competence as a professional research administrator and of their ability to support excellence in research across the research lifecycle.

Certificate in Research Management

This Certificate in Research Management is aimed at individuals with at least 4 years experience in research management and administration, and provides students with opportunity to consolidate their knowledge and skills. The focus is on self-guided learning and assessment through work-based portfolios and submission of written work based on personal experience and research. The course comprises a combination of five mandatory and one optional units. There is a requirement to undertake some formal learning via ARMA training or other recognised training providers, and contact time with a Professional Mentor.

By completing the Certificate in Research Management, students will:

  • Expand their knowledge and expertise within their current role, and enhance their ability to reflect on and plan improvements in daily practice
  • Develop their skills as effective research managers, benefiting both them and their institution
  • Demonstrate an informed awareness of strategic operational issues that affect them, their practice and their institution.
  • Gain formal recognition of their expertise in research management
