New chair of Editorial Working Group announced

Phil Ward has been appointed as chair of the Editorial Working Group from January 2023.  Phil is director of Eastern Arc, a regional research consortium that brings together UEA, Essex and Kent. He was previously Deputy Director of Research Services at the University of Kent, and has worked for the Arts and Humanities Research Council where he was responsible for both the English Literature and Language panel, and the most popular of its funding streams, the Research Leave scheme.

Phil writes for a range of outlets, including Research Professional, where he undertook a secondment as an editor from 2017 to 2018. He also runs the award-running blog Research Fundermentals. 

As chair, Phil will lead the working group in its objective to produce high quality issues of our members’ magazine, The Protagonist, and the PinPoint Policy Briefings. This year, the working group will begin work on a review of The Protagonist.
