New head of programmes appointed

We are pleased to announce the appointment of James Dunphy as the new Head of Programmes at ARMA.

James is joining us from Ambition Institute where they were a programme leader, responsible for the delivery of a UK wide programme of professional development for early career teachers. Prior to this, James worked in the research charity sector for 18 years, (at Cancer Research UK and Versus Arthritis) leading teams to deliver high quality events and programmes of work. This included working with healthcare professionals to create a wide variety training programmes that supported their continuing professional development.

At ARMA, James will oversee the professional development portfolio including our training and development programme, qualifications programme and other strategic projects with partner organisations.

James takes over the role from Eva Kagiri-Kalanzi, who held the position of head of programmes in 2022 following a Finance and Governance review.

Announcing the appointment, Alasdair Cameron, ARMA’s Chief Executive Officer, said ‘I’m delighted that James will be joining us at ARMA. They bring a wealth of experience and will help ensure our professional development programmes meet the needs of our members. James will also play a key role in ARMA’s future strategic projects. Working with our members, funders and stakeholders we are looking to help shape the research environment of the future.’

James added, ‘I’m really looking forward to joining ARMA, to get know the team and our members and support them with the delivery of high impact programmes of work that will benefit us all.’

James Dunphy will take up his post on 1 February 2023.
