Supporting Transformative Research Collaborations – Africa Charter: workshop

Event Details

Have you supported international collaborative research in the Global South? Have you seen international collaborations struggle due to institutional/funder frameworks and policies and wanted to change them but haven’t known how?

ARMA and the British Academy want to bring together a group of likeminded research professionals who have supported International collaborative projects to share anonymised experiences of when things have not worked. All too often we hear about how successful collaborations have worked but we hear far less about those that perhaps did not succeed or only succeeded because a huge amount of time and effort was needed to overcome barriers. ARMA and the British Academy want to hear what those challenges have been and think about how funders and research professionals can work together to transform our frameworks and policies to support equitable partnerships. We are keen to have a range of expertise at the workshop e.g. pre-award, post-award, legal and ethics professionals so that we can see these challenges from a variety of perspectives.

The outcomes from this workshop will seek to address some of the power imbalances as identified in the Africa Charter. At the workshop you will learn more about the Africa Charter and its ambitions and how you can play a role in transforming research collaborations.

If you would like to share your experiences and seek to find solutions with us, please register for this event to receive the expression of interest form. Places will be limited and allocated in order to provide a wide range and breadth of experiences across the project lifecycle.
