The ARMA artificial intelligence survey is now open

We are inviting research management and administration professionals across the UK to take part in the artificial intelligence (AI) survey.

ARMA has launched this sector-wide survey to better understand how the research management and administration community is using, not using, or considering using artificial intelligence in their work. We are looking to capture how AI is impacting the profession, how it is being used in practice, where people feel confident or uncertain, barriers and concerns, access to AI tools and how ARMA can support the profession to use AI responsibly, confidently and effectively.

The survey is open to both ARMA members and non-members, whether you currently use AI tools or not. We want to hear from those working for organisations such as universities/higher education institutions, research institutes, independent research organisations, public sector research establishments, research funders, government departments, NHS Bodies, Catapult centres, independent research management consultants and charitable organisations, including Trusts and Foundations.

We also welcome views from all career stages and from all UK nations, so please share with your networks and colleagues working in research management and administration.

The survey should take no more than 20 minutes to complete: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8MG3CJM

The findings will be used to inform future activity across ARMA, including training, opportunities for knowledge/good practice sharing, advocacy work and practical resources related to AI.

Please share the survey with other research management colleagues in your network. Artificial intelligence is rapidly becoming part of the research ecosystem, with growing potential to influence how research is supported, managed, governed and delivered. The more perspectives we gather, the stronger the evidence base will be to help shape guidance, discussions and support across the sector.

For any queries, please contact us at enquiries@arma.ac.uk

The survey will close on Wednesday 30 September 2026.
