Wanted – new Impact SIG Co-Champion!

Research Impact SIG

Impact – the provable benefits of research beyond academia – is an increasingly important element of the research landscape both within the UK and internationally, and has a growing community of practice. With impact so important to national assessments, competitive funding, and longer standing applied research agendas, impact professionals have a significant role to play in embedding impact within the research culture, improving impact fluency and facilitating the development and delivery of impact plans of all shapes and sizes.

The Special Interest Groups (SIGs) are a core part of ARMA membership, and offer a means to connect with others working in similar areas.  

The Impact SIG focuses on developing skills and strengthening the research management of impact both for REF and for impact more broadly. It encompasses a broad range of professionals working in areas such as funding, public engagement, policy engagement, commercialisation, communications, information management and those focused on REF impact at all career levels. The Impact SIG focuses on connecting peers to share good practice and drive impact-related professional development. We have around 512 members in the Impact SIG community.

Co-Chair Opportunity 

The Research Impact SIG is now looking for a new co-Champion. The co-Champion would work with the current Champions Alisha and Lucy to review and strengthen current provision, support extension of the website and events, facilitate conversations and help coordinate ongoing SIG work such as responding to sector consultations.

Applicants should preferably have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a research administration/management role, a good awareness of ARMA and be able to demonstrate a strong interest in, and commitment to, the SIG area of interest. Applicants do not have to be a member of ARMA to apply for this role, but will be asked to join in the event that they are appointed.
