Yesterday morning, you may have experienced problems accessing the ARMA website, particularly between 9.30am and 10.30am. Those attempting to book a place at our Wellcome Trust Study Tour will have been particularly frustrated as the sheer number of members accessing that page caused our website to crash. We appreciate that those of you trying to book your place at 9.30 may have been thrown out of the system, potentially causing you not to secure your place.

Our event booking system has, until yesterday, proved very reliable, giving no indication that it might not be robust enough to cope with multiple accessors. Stress testing such systems realistically is also almost impossible to do.

Ironically the methodology we chose was based on that used for other high-profile events and we believed it to be the fairest way of doing this. We are now the wiser, of course, and will, next time, identify an equally fair, but less technology-reliant solution.

We’re extremely sorry for any disappointment caused and for time wasted trying to book your place.
